Some wonderful man told of the v chip to block out bad words from dvds. E-bay does carry them. Do you have one or know anyone who has one? This would help in so many ways.

I live in Round Rock and have a couple of HD TV's. I don't want to put every one of them on a cable box to get HD. I want to know what channels people are getting with OTA (over-the-air) antennas hooked up around Austin. Please tell me approx where you live and what channels you get. Thanks.

If I use a Playstation 2 or any other console, does the console over time mess up the TV and burn out the screen?

Here's a problem that's vexing me (experienced in AV equip.) and my son, a master electrician and also very experienced in AV and digital electronics.

We just bought a brand new Samsung wide screen TV and a Samsung DVD unit.

The incoming signal is Direct TV (from the decoding box, of course).

We can get good AV direct to the TV. We can play pre-recorded DVDs, but we CANNOT get the DVD unit to "pass" the satellite signal up to the TV using any of the standard signal path configurations.

If we went coax ->DVD, coax -> TV, we had a poor signal that had diagonal lines.

We could NOT successfully get the signal to the TV using component patch cords.

Any ideas?

Just bought a new HD flat screen tv. Of course "they" wanted to sell me the world but I'd thought I'd check with you all first. From the initial hookup to the cable box, from the cable box to the tv: what is the best cable to use to optimize my viewing pleasure?

I am about to purchase a flat screen tv and was told by the salesman that even if I buy an HDTV I would have to buy a seperate HD reciever to view HD channels. I have a Directv box, won't that work in place of an HD reciever?

Is it true that SDTV looks horrible on an HD display? I'm getting a new TV but can't afford to upgrade my programming and receiver at the same time. If so, is there a certain display type that is better for SDTV but will still be good for HD? I'm looking at a 42" Samsung DLP for around $1000. It's either that or a 32" LCD for the same price. Also wondering about Nintendo Wii. Since it doesn't display HD (but does display in 16:9), how will that look?

I know a dvd player's resolution is 752x480, but a regular tube tv can't display that. is it 320x240 (i remember reading that once)

I have a Wii that can ouput to 480p. I guess I would need a hd tv to get the better image.

I'm working with a simple double-shielded coaxial cable. I have to attach a new connector to it and I want to make sure it's done right. I've stripped the outer thick black rubber coating off about 1/2 inch & pulled back the thin silver braided shielding. Now there's the thin foil shield & I'm not sure what to do with it - let me rephrase that - I'm not sure what the CORRECT thing to do with it is. Please help!!! It's driving me crazy and no one seems to know.

I would love to go to digital, but I'm cheap and hate to pay the extra 5 buck for a box for every TV in my house. That is why I don't use satalite.

HD , what does 720 , 1001, 1500 mean in terms of quality it;s like it on my xbox too but i don't see much different.

I am not sure if there are any major disadvantages to buy the 720 instead of the 1080 other than the lower resolution, and I am not counting on too much honesty from the sales people. I like the great prices they have on the 720 sets now put I'm conserned that it may become obselete along with my other sets.
