All TV's as of March 2007 will have to have a built in ATSC tuner, but they won't necessarily have HDTV resolutions. The tuner allows the TV to pick up digital signals when over the air TV stations cease their analog transmissions, which is mandated to happen in 2009.

If the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is any indication, there is no more any TV that isn't HDTV. I know of no manufacturer introducing a new model TV that isn't HD.

Most definitely not. HDTVs are still too expensive for them to take over the television market, and broadcasters and cable companies aren't ready to make the full conversion to HDTV.

Good old-fashioned 1950s era color television will still be around for many, many years to come.

No. Only over-the-air analog signals will be converted to digital, and that isn't until 2009. You will be able to keep your analog TV, and still buy analog TVs, just as long as you have satelite or cable. If you have rabbit ears or a roof antenna (not a dish) then you will have to get satelite or cable.
