I currently have a Sony Trinitron 27" tv purchased about 3 years ago. I love it but would like to get another. I've looked at Toshiba, Sony and Samsung flat screens. They're all about the same price so I don't really know which one to get. Any help???

I'm not looking for LCD or Plasma. Just a flat screen tv. Sony WEGA seems to be the preferred brand for quality of picture. Would you all agree?

In my experience the Sony has the best picture, followed closely by the Toshiba.

Is your Trinitron the high-definition one? If so, my pal has the exact same and convinced me to go for the 32" hi-def version. It actually has a flat screen, with a cathode ray tube (CRT).

So I guess you mean you want a flat panel tv, not just the flat screen. If you already have hi-def, you should rethink going whether you really want LCD or plasma: their pictures just aren't as clear as Sony's hi-def CRT.

Between the Toshiba and the Sony flat panels, really, it's probably a coin toss. I'd avoid Samsung, as their projection software isn't as developed. You might want to check out Panasonic though.

So how big do you want? Between plasma and LCD, plasma is better with the dark detail of movies, but LCD is better if you keep your room well lit.

In your shoes I'd likely go for a Sony. The picture is great, and you won't have to learn new tuning procedures.

I don't know if this helps but in the past Sony used to be the most popular TV in the US but last year it was Samsung across the board for LCD, digital, and flat tube CRTs.
