the best HDTV with your desirable specifications for the lowest price would be the samsung HL-S5087W. i want to get one for myself once my budget allows. ebay has some great prices, search other online retailers as well. ur looking at around $1500

The best picture available is the Sony SXRD models (the latest ones, XBR2, are the best). Real 1080p resolution (not faked "wobulated" as in DLP rear-screen projectors) an excellent contrast ratio and very bright picture. A flat screen LCD or Plasma of that size will cost much more. While 1080p LCD flat screens are now common, 1080p plasmas are just coming out and are very expensive. Also, you want to make sure that your "1080p" TV will actually accept a 1080p input--many do not, instead converting 1080i to 1080p internally.

If you are lookingfor something that gets up to 1080p resolution and is good gaming and tv the i would say that you have two choices, DLP, or Flat panel LCD. DLP or LCD Projection will be the cheapest. you will get a good picture for your needs and they are very easy to work on should something go wrong(in the far distant future). they will range from $1000 to $2800 for 42" to 65" good brands are JVC, SONY, Toshiba, and Samsung. Flat Panel LCD's are going to be the best for your gaming. they are going to be a little more expensive. but you get the advantage of being able to hang it on a wall. you will range from $2299-$4500 for 42" to 55". Although Plasma is the all around best picture, i would not recomend that for you if you are really into gaming. you just will not get the gaming picture that you want from a plasma but for movies and sports they are amazing

get the dell 30" widescreen. It does all that, and is good for gaming. It's about $2000.
