I am trying to attach a DVD player (with recording capabilities) to an older Sony TV (KV27V10) which is circa 12 years old. However, I am having problems with getting the two pieces to work together and don't know if this is down to (1) incompatibility between the two products, (2) a problem with the DVD-RW unit, or (3) a problem with the set-up itself. Since this is the second DVD-RW unit I have had problems with, I am inclined to think that the problem is not with it (from Aspire Digital). Any suggestions on how to get a successful link between this older Sony TV andmy new DVD-RW? Or is this something that is just not feasible? I have a much older TV in my studio that has a DVD attached to it, so I remain hopeful that it is something that can be done. I just cannot quite figure out how! Any suggestions to help me acheive this would be most appreciated! I do have a cable connection which needs to be factored into the connection also...

Thanks for ANY suggestions!!!

I heard of TiVos and DVRs but I'm not sure, are they expensive? I'd also try tape recording but I don't have one of those anymore. Is there any other way for me to record TV shows while I'm away? For example, if I have to be somewhere at 12, I'd want to set the recorder (whatever it may be) so it can record it automatically while I'm away and then stop when whatever I'm recording is over (just for an hour for example.)

Are there any other ways to record TV shows by myself while I'm away? Possibly cheaper ways?

Maybe I'm not clear on my previous question - I DON'T want to subscribe to Direct TV service, I want to know if I buy the DVR @ Costco for less than $100 will I be able to do on the air recording of cable channels? Is there something I have to reconfigure to make it work this way?

I have a Dish Network dual tuner DVR and would like to hook up a second TV that is not near the reciever. I have existing cabling in the walls. Do I need to run a new cable from the back of the DVR through the walls and to the other TV? If so, is there any other way? Running Cable through the walls now is not possible.
