I am trying to attach a DVD player (with recording capabilities) to an older Sony TV (KV27V10) which is circa 12 years old. However, I am having problems with getting the two pieces to work together and don't know if this is down to (1) incompatibility between the two products, (2) a problem with the DVD-RW unit, or (3) a problem with the set-up itself. Since this is the second DVD-RW unit I have had problems with, I am inclined to think that the problem is not with it (from Aspire Digital). Any suggestions on how to get a successful link between this older Sony TV andmy new DVD-RW? Or is this something that is just not feasible? I have a much older TV in my studio that has a DVD attached to it, so I remain hopeful that it is something that can be done. I just cannot quite figure out how! Any suggestions to help me acheive this would be most appreciated! I do have a cable connection which needs to be factored into the connection also...

Thanks for ANY suggestions!!!

A lot depend on the input capabilities of your TV.
I could not find a manual for a KV27V10 but maybe it is not much different than the model below.

If your TV has composite (yellow) or S-Video inputs use them, with S-Video being your first choice.

If you only have coax, then connect the coax cable to your DVD recorder Tuner input and the RF output (coax) from the recorder to the TV.

If you connect the DVD via composite, remember to press TV/video on your remote to switch inputs

Since you didn't mention the connection options on your TV and DVD-Recorder, it's difficult to say exactly how to connect it. First, you want to connect the coax cable from the wall to your DVD-Recorder and not to the TV.

The next step will vary on the connectivity options on your TV. Use the highest quality common connection. Here is a list from low to high quality.

Composite (yellow)
S-video (black)
Component (red, green, blue)
DVI
HDMI

Make sure you change your TV to the correct video mode, by pressing TV/Video button.
