TiVO & DVRs

Is it alright to get Ordinary cable for Hi Def TV? Will the picture quality be good? I am planning to get Ordinary dish and DVR not the Hi def ones. Please advice

I got 2 new cable boxes and a amplifier to make my signal stronger and my movie channels are still not updating. I went on HBO and Showtime websites to see the new releases for Jan 15th and none of the new movies are on my menu.

I have just purchased the Alba DVD recorder, and I can find no mention in the manual of how to finalize a DVD so that I can play it in other DVD players. Help please

Can anyone tell me if I can connected my HDD to my TV via s-video? If so how do I do this - with s-video alone. I would also like to know about the Pr Py etc connections and what they do?

I have been having probs with my AV channel on my LG LCD TV I have tried to download a manual as I cant locate mine right now and I have treid to contact the company but no luck as yet. I have a black screen. i did this once b4 accidentally pressed something on the remote and it took me a day or so to figure out to press two buttons on the remote.to restore my AV channel. I can't remember what I did back then when it first happened and I fixed it accidentally too. I have lost my AV channel.for a couple of days now and cant use my HDD unless i figure something out.

Thanks for all your help people it is appreciated and u dont get to tell ppl on here much :D.
Can anyone explain what the s-video and also the pr py etc sockets do and if i can input my HDD through these instead?

I turned it on, and it said it would go back to regular in 10 sec if it didn't work. Well the screen went black and it never went back. Now i can't see anything and i can' t see to turn it back off. I need help. If you have one can you look at what buttons you press to get to it and turn it off. Thanks a lot

I live in a small town and when I try to setup my tivo it does not see all of the tv stations I have. I have an antenna hooked up to my directv to get me local stations and some of the stations are in a nearby city outside my zip code. Any ideas?

When I start to record it stops because it says its copywright protected. Is there any way to get around this, all I want to use it for is for my own house, its not like I'm trying to sell it for profit or anything.

What is the difference between what the different types of Dreambox can do.
I need to be able to record and to pause/rewind live tv. Would like to be able to patch the receiver if required. What is the minimum spec required?

(please no links to the Dreambox website...an easy way to get points, and I can look it up myself)
