put a tape in change the channel to the channel; you want to record on the vcr and press record that simple.

It all depends on what channels you want to record.
IF you have regular cable and are recording a channel that does not need the cable box to unscramble then you can hook up the vcr directly to the cable. You will probably need a splitter if your vcr isn't already hooked up like that. The vcr will also have to be set for cable tuning rather than antenna tuning. You will have to read your manual to see how that is set. The good thing with this method is you can watch one show on your TV while you tape athother on your vcr.
IF you have a digital box OR if the movie/show you want to tape can only be watched on the cable box then the vcr needs to be hooked up to the box (and probably tuned to channel 3). The only drawback to this method is the cable box has to be on and tuned to the channel you want to record and you cant watch anything else.
The output of the VCR should not need to change.
I hope that helps.

connect the cable box to the VCR, then the VCR to the TV. amke sure they all are ON and set to the right channel. it differs from VCR to VCR how you record, but you should be able to stick a blank tape in, have the VCR input set to TV, and hit record.
give it a try, and if that dosnt work, change the VCR input settings until it does.

once you have plugged the scart from the vcr into television, and the aerial cable from the wall socket to vcr, then vcr to television. then you certainly've the main suitable cabling. Now turn television on, and vcr. press the av ( source ) button on your television distant. this could then be the two a blue reveal ( if vcr isn't tuned ) or prepare in spite of the fact that proggramme there is that in case you vcr is tuned. IF no longer tuned press the menu button on the vcr distant, circulate to place in permit it " test " for the channels, then save. while ever you desire to record a programme, circulate to the vcr menu button, decide on recording time. circulate difficult the training, figuring out on channel, time and day. wish this helps wg
