Your TiVo® box, powered by the amazing TiVo® service, automatically finds and digitally records all of your favorite shows, every time they're on. Every episode of your favorite series. Every Coppola movie. Every home improvement program. Even Dora cartoons! Whatever you choose. All while you're out living life. Plus, only TiVo lets you watch your favorite shows any time, anywhere.
Tivo is great, I have one for two months now and can't imagine watching TV with out it, worth the $20 a month hands down and the online service to select shows that you want to record is very helpful. I would get it again if had to choose between cable offered DVR and Tivo (free box, easy set up, very reliable) more information visit www.tivo.com

TiVo is a digital video recorder (DVR) which connects much like a VCR to your TV. With a TiVo, you not only can record your favorite TV shows, but you can schedule a season pass to record your favorite show everytime that it comes on. However, the real difference between a TiVo and a VCR is in the ablity to time shift your TV viewing. For example, if your favorite TV show comes on at 8 pm and you have to answer the phone at 7:59 pm, well with TiVo you don't have to miss the beginning of your show, you can just hit pause and keep it paused for up to 1 hour (depending on which TiVo you have), after your phone call, you can hit play and it was as if you never left. Or if you were watching a program and missed something, no problem, just hit rewind and watch the part you missed again! Another great feature is if you are 30 mins into a show and decided you would like to record it, you can hit record and it will record the entire show from where you began watching it not just from where you where in the program when you decided to hit record.
Although any Series TiVo is great, the new Series 3 HD TiVo's are incredible! They have the ability to record one TV show while watching another (a feature the other TiVo's did not have in the past unless you had a DirectTV TiVo or you also connected a cable box.... which I would not recommed do to voice lag) The Series 3 TiVo can record and display in High Definition, but if you connect it to a broadband internet connection, you can tune in internet radio stations, stream music from your computer or laptop to your TV or stereo system, link two or more TiVo's to share TV recordings, Send recorded TV shows to your computer to watch, and a lot more.
I have had a TiVo for years and trust me when I tell you, it will forever change the way you watch TV. I hate watching TV without it now.

Its the greatest invention for TV ever.
Its a digital recording of your shows. Mine records 80s hours dual tuner. You set up season passes for the shows you like and tivo finds when the episodes are on, even if there is a scheduling change the tivo will find it, you can set up a wishlist with keywords and it will auto record those shows if you want or just pull up a list of them. You can search for shows by name, it holds about two weeks worth of tv guide data. You need either a phone or a wireless network and an adaptor for the tivo. It is well worth the 20 bucks a month you will pay for service. You can pause live tv for up to half hour and fast forward thru commercials in 5 seconds. It is the greatest thing ever. Tivo.com

It is just like a vcr but instead of tapes, it has a huge hard drive (kinda like the one in your computer) to record the shows on. Because of this, you never have any tapes like you would on a vcr. The down side of having tivo is that you have to pay a monthly service to tivo in order to get the service that goes with the actual tivo unit.
The service is good and quite easy to use.
You can set the recorder to find all of the shows that have your favorite actor on them.
IT will automatically record them. You can get a season pass for your favorite show and it will automatically record it...(no more missing american idol when they change the date or time)
You will love it.
