At the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, there was a company showing off a prototype laptop.

Atom Chip Company was displaying a laptop with a 6.8ghz processor, 1 terrabyte of RAM and a 2 terrabyte solid state hard drive.

The general comments were that it's impossible to tell what the general performance of the chip is without proper bench marking, and there were questions if in fact it really was faster than the current high end chips available now.

There was more of a ripple about the hard drive. It's a completely different technology, and it was said that if Atom Chip can pull this off, that within the industry, it would be absolutely huge!

I couldn't find very much written about the RAM. I did read some ancillory web sites, and tend to think it's more like additional chrome on a concept car --pretty insignificant...

It seems that we are a long way off (5 years maybe?) before RAM memory equal to half the storage size could be fully utilized.

It would entail a hundred-fold increase in the FSB, a complete redesign in the function of chip sets, and speeds would have to increase markedly across the board for RAM that size to be fully utilized.

no home pc has a tb of ram, it would have to be 1gig or 2gig. Unless he works for nasa or a chip manufacturer and is testing prototype, this is no way possible
