i have staples dvd-r discs-discs won't work to copy anything,are they the wrong type?

burner is a memorex dual layer. i was trying to copy some pictures to disc.keeps coming up w/no disc inserted

What type of DVD recorder or burner do you have? Some recorders will only accept DVD+R and not DVD-R.

Also, what are you trying to burn? What device are you testing it in?
