Bought a Toshiba HDTV in 2003 along with a warranty. Immediately I noticed a discoloration expanding from the corner. I called about a month later and had a tv tech guy visit. He took the screen off the (2 pieces) and he noticed a film build up that was spreading. Anyway he said it would $400 to replace. BESTBUY denied it because they said I caused it. I tried to obtain a pro-rated refund, but, they denied that too since I did not have the little BESTBUY folder they put the receipts in. Never mind that I had the receipt proving the purchase of the extended warranty. I've logged complaints with the Ohio Attorney General and BBB and all I got was a coupon. have not shopped at BESTBUY in over 4 years. the BEST scam warranty you can BUY.

I only have one DVI hookup for my TV & have a receiver & a PS3 that have to swap from the back of the TV when I a want to use each one of them. Do they make a splitter or something where I could hook both up to a switch or something so I wouldn't have to keep switching the DVI at the back of the TV

I need watch batteries for three different watches. Why is it so hard to find information on the internet as to what battery I need to pick up? I can replace it myself if I knew what size to buy.

One's a Citizen, one's a small Swatch, and one's a Carriage by Timex.

I want to buy a really good surge protector, but I need it for my dorm room. This means that I'll need to plug in a laptop, fridge, microwave, LCD TV and misc. stuff in it. Which one would be best?

At the store they recommended a monster surge protector for my TV, but didn't say anything about the laptop. It almost seemed as though monster was for audio and video, but not for laptops and fridges?

I hope to spend $50.00 or less, but I honestly just want the best way to protect all of my equipment. It was expensive, and it's worth it to save it. Thanks for your answers!

I have just found a Hanimex BC 999 1970's calculator in my garage. It does work and has red LED numbers, when you type the numbers in order the screen only fits 8, its in a soft black pouch, have googled this but can not find any info - do people collect these and if so are they worth anything.

I am looking for pros and cons of each satellite tv provider.
Best service, HD programming, price, selection of channels, NFL and NASCAR coverage, any and all opionions will help. I had DirecTV before and want to know if I should go back to them or try Dish Network. Do you still need a phone line? Which does the weather effect more? Do they all still have a contract of 12 months? DVR and HD receiver differences, etc, etc etc. Thanks for your help.

As you may or may not know, when Spiderman 3 and The Bourne Ultimatum come out on dvd, Spiderman 3 will only be on blu-ray and Bourne will only be on hd dvd.

Which format will or have you chosen and which format will win out out in the end ? Right now I'm leaning toward blu-ray !

Anyone know the code or have a universal remote that they know works ?

i have a JVC LCD 32" TV which is now about 4 years old and a couple of days ago when i turned it on i could only hear the sound but no picture.
when i go to menu and reset the tv the picture will come back on and everything will be fine, but when i switch the tv to standby or off at the wall, the next time i use the tv the same things happens again.
I have gone through this process 4 times so far with the same results.(warrenty has now expired)

I have contacted JVC and they agree it is only a small problem but my nearest JVC engineer is 50 miles away and wants £60 call out charge with a further £60 for estimate that,s taken off should i agree to the repair.

i,m asking if anyone knows what the problem is, and will it be viable for me to purchase the part required and fit it myself. I am more than capable of soldering on a chip or replacing the part.
(thanks to all that answer)

I am looking to buy a GPS system for my in laws who are on the road a lot . (semi retired and haul trailers cross country). I need a recommendation on a GPS system suitable for them.

Would ideally like
a) 3.5" screen or larger.
b) Text to speech (turn left on elm st as opposed to turn left in .1 mile)
c) EASY interfaces. (old folks who are technology averse)
d) Live weather and traffic updates (question here do I need to subscribe to get this) ?
e) How accurate are these GPS in the back roads of oregon, idaho, az ?
f) POI a must - Gas stations. hotels campgrounds. restraunts.
g) under $300 - $350 (hey I m cheap and they are my inlaws)
h) other accessories not required (mp3, bluetooth etc etc)
i) auto reroute
j) make-them-lost-when-they-come-visiting-me feature

I have narrowed my choice down to the following. Your recommendation/any other suggestion.
Garmin Street Pilot c340
