Is it still possible to receive a DirecTV or Dish Network signal in Canada (legal or not)? If so, how would I go about getting it and the equipment needed?

I have reals of old family super 8 film (most of it sound). Is there a recommended place that I can send this to that can convert it to DVD for me? I've found a few that can go to VHS, but then I'd have to get those transferred to DVD. I was hoping there might be a firm out there that can go straight to DVD for me. I have the film projector and a digitial cam corder, so I COULD do this myself, but I'd really rather outsource it for convenience.

Does this mean there is a little of the tape left or lots to record onto?

Faceing the tape so I can see the spools through the plastic.... the way that I would put it into the vcr... facing up...

The left side has less tape, the right side has more tape?
Does that mean its closer to the end or beggining of the tape?

Okay I'm using the same speakers I used for my old computer (which was a xp/2000... long story) and it worked just fine. However, that one broke and now I have my sister friends old computer which is a xp. you can barely hear the speakers. I don't know what I did wrong. Any way to make it louder?

I have a LG model DVD4710/DVD4210.

It's only reads DVD for the UK. Is there a code or something that I can put in the handset to change it to multi-regional or is it more difficult?

Will and American HDTV Ready monitor without a tuner work in the UK if connected to an HD source.

I know someone will hove tons to say about PAL and NTSC and maybe even voltage being 220-240 in UK, but HD has nothing to do with PAL or NTSC and most monitors (computer) are dual voltage. It is a digital source and not analog like PAL and NTSC.

Someone suggested that HDTV source in Europe operate at 25 fps and in the USA it is 30 fps.

Anyway will and HDTV ready monitor (eg. a 40" computer monitor) work in the UK.

Do you have any links with this information?

I have a wireless microphone system (the box and 1 mic). How do I go about adding an additional wireless mic to the system? Do I have to get a mic from the same company/product line? Can I get any wireless mic separate and somehow connect it to the same frequency so that it will run off of the current system?

If you can give me your opinion on all of these brands, it'd be great, or just tell me which you'd prefer.

Dynex
Fuji
Maxell
Memorex
Sony
Verbatim

I think there are more, but I want to choose within these. I heard that Verbatim, Maxell, and Sony brands are good. Please tell me which one you prefer and why.

Thanks for your help.

The audio track sounds great in the video editor, but when I convert to mpeg, it acquires noisy pops and scratches like an old unlistenable record. Is this avoidable? This is my first attempt at video editing... please couch explanations in idiot-friendly terms. :-) Thanks.

The DVD recorder combos permit you to record images from vcr tapes to DVD. How much video quality loss do you get this way?
