my two year old decided to clean the screen. Now, it is blotchy and looks horrible..will the picture come back ok after if dries out?

If the lcd screen itself got wet, than it's most likely done for. If there is a plastic sheet covering it, it may have protected it enough for the screen to survive.

Remove the battery and let is dry thoroughly. Then replace the battery and try. What did he "clean" it with?

depends what got init. if its distilled water, then thats fine with electronics, but anything like windex or soda or anything else probably not.
