Someone gave me a recording of me reading my dad's eulogy in 2002 . I would like to be able to convert it without having to buy an outdated (and unpopular) DAC recorder/player. Please help.

You can't without using a DAT player (or having someone use one for you). The person who gave you the recording, could you borrow their player to make the transfer? If not, there are services which will do the conversion for you using their pro equipment. Sometimes these can be found locally, or there are places who will do it through the mail. Here's one such place on the internet. They'd charge you about $18 to do a DAT tape digital-to-digital CD conversion provided it is an hour or less in length. http://www.sonicperfectionists.com
