Are DVD recorders worth buying, or should I just hold on to my old faithful VCR?
I'm concerned about the picture quality. I've heard that there's no component input, so wouldn't the quality be about the same as with a VCR?
I'm guessing that the aspect ratio of whatever you record will also be 4:3?

I have a Pansat Receiver and I have Dish Network on it. I am using DSSROOKIE.COM to get the new key codes, but does anyone know how to download new files onto the receiver using a cable? My satellite guy who we bring it to will show us for $100 and he says if we get the wrong file for the receiver, it is possible that we can burn it (the receiver) and not be able to use it again. I obviously don't want to fork out 100 bux for this.
any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Electric lamp with 4 G4 Capsule bulbs. The wattage is not marked on the bulbs. The transformer say 12v 20VA output, so with 4 bulbs in parallel this should mean 5watts each. When using 5W replacements they are substantially dimmer. If I try 10W replacementsthe light seems the same but the transformer cuts out after a while through overheating. While it does reset itself it makes the lamp impractical.

Where have I gone wrong ?

I am doing a gigantic stock analysis on Blockbuster (BBI) vrs Netflix (NFLX), and part of that involves DVD sales. I can't find any specific numbers on retailers like Walmart, Circuit City and Best Buy on how many DVD's they sold. I know in 2005, Walmart had 40% of the sales, that's it. This is crucial information I need and I would appreciate any help!

I bought a house with old 2-prong, ungrounded outlets. I have quite a few computers, appliances, and a power hog plasma tv that all have 3-prong plugs. The surge protector paperwork says I need to connect to grounded outlets or the warranty is void. The home inspector said don't worry about it, that it isn't necessary and I can just use the 2-3 prong adapter. So what are the benefits of having grounded outlets? Is this to protect the equipment from lightning? Or to protect a person who might be touching it?

I have an RCA universal remote, model: RCU404. I know how to program it for my dvd player (which is a Toshiba), and I am making sure the device I'm trying to use is on, and that I have pressed the right button. The problem is the navigation buttons are not working right. (According to the manuel the volumn and channel buttons are the navigation buttons). I have to stop my dvd and restart it every time I want to go to a new menu. I have tried the trouble shooting advice at the end of the manuel and it hasn't helped. I've tried resetting and reprograming it, following the manuel's instructions but that only seems to be a temporary fix. Sometimes the indicator light starts flashing for several seconds right before the remote acts up. Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks in advance.
