About 2 weeks i started to notice that the ipod wouldn't show up in itunes and something popped up saying I should update to solve the problem. I updated to iTunes 7 and now I have an ipodservice module error that shows up. I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it. I even tried using iTunes 6 (from the cd). Nothing would work.. neither did defragmenting and I don't have the cds to reformat, anyone have any ideas??

You haven't lost your library, so unless you deleted your
music library you music is still on your computer.

What generation is your ipod? If it is a 4th generation or older,
there are no more updates for it and you will need to get the
software from Apple for that generation. Later versions of ipod
updater do not work on older generation ipods.

You can also defrag and check your ipod using Disk Warrior.

You can also reboot your ipod (not restart) which will help in some cases.

I think it means to update your actual ipod, not itunes. There's versions of different ipod software that's on your ipod. If that doesn't help, then go to my computer, right click on the drive with your ipod, and then eject and try it again and keep itunes open. Sometimes that helps. I'd try the 2nd thing before the 1st though lol sorry for being so confusing.

See if this works:
right click on My Computer, Mange, Services, find the iPod Service and stop it.

Uninstall iTunes again. Reboot (very important)

Download and install the latest version. Reboot again!

That should do it. Sometimes you have to kill the services to completely remove a program.

If this doesn't work, find a local techy that knows how to remove programs via Registry edit.
