I need a camera that will take good pictures under harsh conditions. It will be in temperatures ranging from +30c to -20c, possibly in the same day. So I need one thats not going to fall apart. Any suggestions? Of course if anyone out there owns a camera shop and wants to donate 1, (or 2, I can auction the other one), know where I'm going with this? Its for charity etc etc. I'm climbing Kilimanjaro next year to raise funds for Rays of Sunshine childrens charity. Go to www.raysofsunshine.org.uk to see why I'm doing this.
Thanks in advance for all the sensible answers and recommedations

Okay...so I bought my studio light kit and I've done my research. I've figured out the Guide number for my strobes, and I've even learned the formula for selecting the correct aperture for these strobes (Guide nubmer / distance = aperture). Okay...now how do I figure shutter speed? I know that a slower shutter speed at a particular aperture might overexpose, and a faster shutter speed might underexpose. How do I select the right shutter speed after I've found the right aperture using the above formula?

The Rebel xti (with the lens kit) is between $800-900. BUT, Costco has Nikon D80 with 2 lenses (18-55 and 55-200) for $1299 including case. This is probably more camera than I need, but it seems like a fantastic deal.

Also, I know I'll need a bigger memory card if I'm shooting with 10 megapixils. What size card should I get?
I am a novice, and finally want to upgrade from my disappointing point and shoot digital camera. So, I need much advice.
Thanks, Amy

What camera's take good still photos? For example, if I wanted to take a picture of a soccer game while kids were running in the game, I want to take a still picture instead of it looking blurry.

Also, what do megapixels do? Or, what are they for?

What are some good professional camera's (brand name)?

I just need a camera to take on vacation with me - nothing fancy. I know that the bigger the MP the better - but I can't afford just anything. So is something as low as 3 MP really all that poor, if it's just for personal use? What else should I look for in shopping for a digi camera?

I'd like to find a digital camera that isn't too expensive, something that is not much over 100 bucks. I know nothing about digital cameras so I need help with picking out a good one that I can afford. I don't care about the video features, just pictures, and maybe print out some too. Help!
