I need to buy a gift for someone who has a hard time figuring out computers but LOVES to take pictures-and is really good at it too. I thought a cheap user friendly camera would be a good starting point. Does anyone have any ideas?

I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge of how to go about buying those little dohickeys?!

I dont want any fancy features. I just want it to take a picture and have a USB cord to hook up to my Computer so that I can upload the pictures. I dont want anything fancy or anything like that. I guess it wont matter if I can view the picture before I upload it, If I can that’ll be nice, If I cant, oh well. I dont mind.

I dont want to spend to much. Just the most basic of Digital cameras will do, honestly.

Can anyone help me. Tell me either the model or the company or show me the web page or something for it. Anything from $50-$150 which is plenty of money to spend on a camera, I wouldn’t use it much.

But it is important that it has a decent memory on it, or atleast space for a memory card.

I am thinking of purchasing a Canon sd600 (also known as Digital Ixus 60). The only two criticisms I have read of this camera are:

1) Flimsy plastic battery door - I don't care much about this.
2) Battery life is short and there is no battery meter.

Supposedly the camera only warns you a few minutes before your battery is about to die, and considering that this camera uses a proprietary battery and not AAs, then this might be a significant issue.

So my question is that is there really no "battery meter" option, or is it just some 'advanced' display feature that is turned off by default and the average layperson doesn't know how to turn on?

I am looking at one of the Disney Digital Cameras for my 5 year old and I can't find any reviews for it so I was hoping that someone here has tried it. Or if you know where I can find results I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

i have seen many types of cameras coming up in the market recently. and i have also been mesmerized by the "professional" look of the digital slr cameras- you know, those black colored cameras with that big lens. i have an interest in photography and i feel like getting this camera. can someone explain how is this digital slr camera any different than a normal digital camera?

I'm looking to get a digital camera as a gift, and was wondering what you all thought. I'd like to spend $200 or less, if that's even possible.

I am going to print holiday cards this year from a digital photo. Any opinions on which service is best? Quality / cost / customer service are important. Also, I's like to include a message and holiday border so a nice user interface would be good.

At my local Ritz Camera, they're selling the D50 with a Quantaray 18-90mm (I think that's what he said; could barely hear the guy over the phone) for 550 dollars on Black Friday. Is this a good deal? I've never even heard of Quantaray lenses before, so I have no idea if they're crap or not.

I just need to know if it's worth it or not, as it will almost drain my account. And being so close to Christmas, I don't want to risk it unless I know that it's not a pile of crap.

So...is it? ;-)

My budget is about $150- 300. I also would prefer it to have AA or AAA batteries or very good battery life. One of the most important things for me is for it to hold up for a long time. I'm not like a pro photographer, i just want it for scrapbooking and emailing.
