well it depends on what you are looking for. Do you want an $800-$1000 camera that can both manually and automatically focus and tell you what shutter speed and f-stop you need, along with a variety of visual and technical attributes such as close-up shooting, landscape shooting, and action shooting? If your needs are simple, such as you just want a digital camera to take candid photos, a Kodak easyshare is nice. Although it can't hold more than 20 photos without a card, it is easy to use and has a grouping of features that allow you to select your type of shooting. If you are looking for a camera as a way to make art, you should look for a camera with manual controls and a high amount of photo space. My friend just bought a Nikon D-70 and it takes very nice photos and even with the 50-80mm lens she got it can perform some very close-up shots.

That depends on what you mean by qaulity. :P

If you want photo quality then you'd want to look at the type of lense(And know different lense types and how clearly they capture things), the mega pixels(The more the better).

Other things can include focus, stability and the list goes on. Most of the time the more expensive the camera, the better it is period. When you go shopping for your camera, just ask a sales associate help you pick out a good quality camera that's also in your budget. They SHOULD have someone knowledgeable in that department to help you, so no worries!

Good luck! :P

an slr camera is good. mega-pixels are not a good sign of quality. my camera only has 2.1 mega-pixels, but side by side it looks better than my moms, which has six. the processor and especially the lense make the differance. the truth is that the more expensive, the better.

If you want good quality, then go for the latest digital SLRs from Olympus or Canon. Of course they arent cheap but the quality is great.

Just keep in mind, its not only how many mega pixels, but its also how stable it is and how long it takes to focus on an object. pixels mean nothing without the stability

Sony Cybershot is excellent! You can shoot movies, black & white photos, auto settings and manual settings, red eye reduction, etc. It is lightweight. The one I bought has 7.3 megapixels. Good luck!
