35 millimeter is the size of the film.
That's the best one to use if you wish to have a film camera.

Everyone above is correct in what they said. However, there is something you said that is causing me to think that you are referring to the lens and not to the film size.
a 35mm camera means that it uses 35mm film (and everyone pointed out). But if you are looking at the lens itself and the lens is marked as 35mm-105mm this is referring to the focal length of the lens (how much of the world you will see through the lens) - the angle of view.
For an everyday camera to take family pictures, you want a lens that is no more than 35mm on its widest setting, I personally prefer lenses at the 28mm range.
If your lens starts at 45mm, you will not be able to get a group shot to fit within the 45mm confines of your angle of view if you are indoors -- you need to backup quite a ways to fit a group of 10 people in the same shot w/ a 45mm lens.
Look for a camera that gives you a zoom range from 28 or 35mm to 105mm or above.
I hope this helps.

35 mm film is the basic film gauge most commonly used for both still photography and motion pictures, and remains relatively unchanged since its introduction in 1892 by William Dickson and Thomas Edison, using film stock supplied by George Eastman. The photographic film is cut into strips 1 3/8 inches or 35 mm wide — hence the name.[1] The standard negative pulldown is four perforations per frame along both edges, which makes for exactly 16 frames per foot.[2]

Forget about getting that film camera. I would go digital because soon all of the film ones will be Obsolete.
