Not sure how much you paid but from the specifications of this camera it is a quality piece of equipment.

You can find out reviews posted on the link below from owners of the Olympus E300:

Hope this helps and happy photographing.

Be aware that the E-300 has been upgraded to the E-330 now.

This review is not terribly favorable. Read through the whole review and you'll get an idea what cameras they prefer, such as the Canon EOS D350.

If you are "new to photography," there are other cameras that are a much better value and not over your head. Consider a Nikon D50. There is no delay between pictures at all and no delay between the time you press the button and the camera takes the picture. It has a few "consumer friendly" automatic modes, including a "child" mode, that make it very easy to use, but still offers total photographic control when you are ready to take charge. The "kit" lens is a decent lens optically, but you might want to upgrade to the Nikkor AF-S 18-70 f/3.5-4.5G ED DX lens for a bit more range and a lot more durability. When you are ready to add lenses, the sky is the limit with Nikon.

Get a 1 GB memory card, such as the Sandisk "Ultra" for decent write speed.

While you are over here, you might shop our "big box" discount houses, such as:

Circuit City has it for $700, with the lens.

Walmart has it for $660.

The memory card will cost $50-60 or so, depending on sales or rebates.

My wife shoots with this camera (I shoot Pentax) and she has gotten some very nice landscapes. Olympus makes some good stuff

It will give you fine results. Value wise Olympus is hard to beat.

This camera is heavily discounted now, so it should be an excellent value.
