In a Ritz camera shop the people said image stabilization has no benifit when at zooms of 1x -5x, and not really much at 6x. They said it is very effective, but really only when you have talking about much higher zooms, like on a dSLR and such. Does anyone know anything about this?

I was looking into getting a 1GB or 2GB Memory Pro DUO stick but I wanted to know if: 1) another brand would even work? 2) if it does work, would it work at the same level as the Sony brand?

Thanks~

I'm looking into getting the Canon A700, and when looking at sample shots from http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/a700_samples.html the photos in ISO800 and 400 are very grainy/noisy- why is that?
Is this something that I should look past, or take into stronger consideration?

I know nothing about digital photography, but would like to learn. I am specifically interested in taking black and white photographs, (trees, bark, leaves, rocks, hands and that kind of thing), concentrating on textures . What kind of camera would you suggest, and what do I need to look for when buying one. I really don't want to spend more than $500.(canadian) if possible.

I used to own a Kodak C330. That was too begginner for me. Even though I am 16 I still want to grow with my camera. I think I am an advanced photographer and want a camera that takes good pictures all around like maybe a good sensitive lense. Defects that I disliked about my old camera were that inside pictures were dark it had only 4 scene modes and outside night pictures didn't come out clear. I mainly want an anti-shake feature, good scene modes and a sensitive lense. I am leaning towards the Canon Powershot A610. Then the Canon Powershor A530. Or also the Casio Ex-Z260. I am also open to all suggestions for a great camera with a lot of features to fidget with. Thanks for the help in advance.
