Empenage is improper. the sole cameras which you will lose autofocus on whilst employing an older lens are the Nikon D40, D40x, and D60. the reason in the back of it fairly is because of the fact those bodies lack a outfitted in motor, which older Nikon AF lenses mandatory to concentration. there is not any such situation with Sony dSLRs. As those nonetheless incorporate the needed motor for focusing previous Minolta AF lenses. The smaller imaging sensors in maximum Sony dSLRs (shop for the finished physique ?900) basically means that your lenses could have a cropped field of view. for example a 50mm could have a matching view on a crop physique digital as 75mm on a movie digital camera. this could be a situation on the huge attitude, when you consider that unexpectedly your lenses are not going to be as huge. yet in any different case that's tailored to. there is even an benefit to employing movie lenses on a crop physique: when you consider which you're purely employing the the better part of the lens, its midsection, you are able to many times ward off any severe vignetting or corner softness. And to make sparkling Sony dSLRs will take any Minolta A-mount lenses, as used on the the Maxxum/Dynax cameras. This excludes their older instruction manual concentration lenses, which connect to the out of date SR-mount.

That can get....uh....tricky: just because cameras may share the SAME lens install/lock feature, doesn't mean they're UNIVERSALLLY compatable.
In the '70's, SLR "bayonet" lens change systems were the hot thing for quick changing lenses ( a dream come true for photojournalists). I had a Pentax body, which accepted bayonet lenses. I put some Minolta bayonet lenses on it...and it became quickly clear my pictures with mixed cam body/lenses--didn't quite turn out OK : my focus AND apeture settings were a noticable shade off by one step or so.
Yes: it's possible for today's digital cams perhaps....but just prepare for less than perfect results.

as long as the lenses rated for digital cameras... the lenses are made differently becasue the chip on a digital camera is smaller that film and it gives a different focal range too.
