if you go with 150 dpi that would make your image 1050 x 750 and take up about 3.3meg... thats in a tiff image, now you dont need a tiff image if you convert to jpg which is what most online services use... you will get the size down to about 400 - 500 kb... dont compress the image too much in the jpg conversion and dont go less than 150 dpi

About 2mb sounds right for a 300dpi 7x5 photo for printing. Unless you increase the compression (and thus lowering the visual quality) I don't think you're going to get the files any smaller. Consider burning a load of them to a cd and posting it off to the printers if uploading is difficult.

If you are trying to print the files, they should ideally be 300 dpi... depending on the kind and amount of compression involved that can be a sizaeable file. A color file to be printable should ideally be a tiff format; that will put your file at
9.01 megabytes. That'll upload pretty slow. If you jpeg it it will reduce it to a manageable 1 meg or so...

at least 150 dpi anything less would probably come out pixelated, it also depends on the original size of the image
