I'm "wiping" my harddrive and getting a new OS...and a lot of ppl are recommending Linux, but they can never answer my question besides linux being free! How is Linux beneficial and are it's features better than Vista?

I am wanting to buy a new Macbook in two weeks with the NEw MAC OS LEOPARD. I want to use bootcamp and install windows vista. I had an xp machine and i bought Vista for it with windows office 2008 professional. Is there anyway i can just take the disc and install it in my mac. I dont care if the P.C stays without an O.S i just want my new mac to have the two newest O.S

CCleaner (formerly Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It supposed to remove unused and temporary files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster, more efficiently and giving you more hard disk space. If you have used it, does it really work? I am scared to use it because of the fear of downloading a virus.

I have windows vista, does that matter?
I have a trial version of office 2007 on there would that matter?
When I put the disc in the option to install is blacked out!
I've got a paper on there that I need to work on and my trial is up! I tried setting back the clock and that didn't work. They base the trial on how many times you open it now........

How do you determine a device name when using unix?

Icons form old deleted programs keep popping up in my taskbar quickstart field...I have tried everything. I have no clue where the taskbar is pulling the icons from. what is the folder called? could it be pulling them off the network? If so I cant find the source.

Ok my problem is that i have a bunch of worksheets that i need to type up. After i get them typed up, i need to be able to go in and put in the customers information on the lines. Such as Name, address.... Anyway, everytime i type up the sheet and go to put that info in, it moves my line. How do i type it up the first time, and then be able to go back in and type on top of the line. I am trying to do this so i dont have to use a typewriter anymore. I hope this makes sense. I have the original forms, but for each customer i have to type their into on the lines. But when i type their name in on the line, the line moves, so i can't type it on the line. Can someone tell me what i need to do so the line will stay there, and i can type their info on the line. Thanks

This procedure one always has to perform to disconnect external hardwares. I want to know if i am still using that device and icon from system tray get disappeared then how can I remove that particular device(for instance, pen drive or iPod)

Another thing, If that devices cannot get disconnected even after clicking on " Safe to remove hardware" (if some programs still use the drive) then putting computer on "Hibernate" or "Shut Down" the PC can solve the problem or not? I mean, Is that make the device to
remove safely?

And note I have read all the previous answers asked in yahoo! answers but there is no single effective answer.

All giving answers like go in properties, check "show the taskabar icon" and many other useless answers. But there is not a one effective answer

computer is protected by ranger.i deleted it and symantec av in safe mode.i removed them from my recycle bin.now my workstation is not appearing,i'm a complete novice.the laptop is from school.i need it fixed.can you retieve deleted items from the bin.HELP!!!!!!!

Can anyone give me instructions (or a website link) on how to transfer TCAL licences from our exisiting terminal server to our new one.

Both machines are running windows 2003. Just don't fancy paying £200+ to MS for a phone call because that is just crazy!

have a Toshiba Satellite 1115-S103 laptop. I tried changing the order in BIOS to boot windows from cd but still no luck. When it first happened it would take me to my desktop only explorer wouldnt load and it gave errors about explorer image not available or something like that so i believe its a registry problem, however I cannot get my computer to boot from CD to repair this. What do i need to do?

it will not boot in any mode, safe or normal. how do i reformat the hard drive from setup? i cant boot off of any cd, it just shows windows starting up then restarts

I need to download a free photo editting software package for work - mainly kind of stuff I'd need to do is sometimes merge 2 images, crop, resize, get rid of background stuff that kind of thing. IT kindly told me to figure out which one I want and ring them so they can put it on my computer (they're soooo helpful)

It's weird, it keeps saving my shortcut on the desktop with an IE logo and I'm using Firefox. I've never had any problems copying the logo with the link for a shortcut before...but now that I can't...it's really bugging me! CAN ANYONE HELP?!?!

Using alfalinux on a very old machine, i have the CDrom mounted and can see there are autorun files inside it. How do i actually launch the cd so i can install a more modern version of linux (the system i have doesnt support CD Booting so i had to do a floppy install of alfalinux.
