I have windows vista, does that matter?
I have a trial version of office 2007 on there would that matter?
When I put the disc in the option to install is blacked out!
I've got a paper on there that I need to work on and my trial is up! I tried setting back the clock and that didn't work. They base the trial on how many times you open it now........

It is not compatible.

You can not install some xp products on Vista.
This is one of the many drawbacks to using
Vista. No way around this.

You will not have to buy office for Vista.

You would have to completely uninstall Vista and Restart before installing XP.
