quick question i have windows XP home edition. i have bought ther pro edition but here is my queston can i install it on my computer or is the componets of the computer set right for home edition??? straight to the point i want pro and i want to know if i can upgrade from home edition to pro

wht does tht mean? reactivate the pro? i don't have the cd anymore i am right on windows microsoft andthe guy is going to send me the program and i need to know if i can do it without crashing my computer

The upgrade is painless and will keep all your settings and stuff. But why? Pro offers a home user nothing that Home doens't already have. It's not more performance; they were compiled using the same binaries. Pro has some features that make it suitable for use on a corporate domain and that's it.

you wasted your money.

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that there is an upgrade version and a full version available for XP Pro. I know they are doing this for Vista. I would ask what version of XP Pro DVD you have. If it is the full version, it will perform a fresh install of XP Pro which would erase any files you have on your system now.

The short answer is you can perform an upgrade using your XP Pro disk. Place it in your D drive and it will ask you if you are upgrading to XP Pro, just select the upgrade option on the wizard and it will do the rest.

yes you can. and you can do it without reformatting. just pop in the cd and the upgrade process should start. you may need to reactivate the pro version though.
