comp. was hit by lightning so it crashed, and lost everything and had to geta new cpu, a computer says he pput our stuff on a disc and put it back, butits not here, so is their anyway to get my songs back!!!!!

I seem to go through blank DVD's like crazy. I waste them when I make a mistake when burning because I was told you can't burn over them once something is already burned onto them, even if it is not burned all the way. It can't be used again once anything is burned on to it. I was wondering if that is true or if there is a program that can erase what is on the DVD? I have "Nero" which I recently switched to from the"Apollo" burning software program. Nero has an erase disk section but it won't let me do it. I switched to Nero because "Apollo" stopped working all together. I got a couple DVD's made but most of the time it wouldn't go to 100% , it would freeze or spit the DVD out unfinished yet data was still burned onto it messing it up. I tried other programs they all did the same thing (wasting more disks!). So I am hoping Nero will work better. I just have no more DVDs left! I am hoping there's a way to reformat the DVD's or erase the data on it and start over?

im making a video slideshow of me and my friend and i need to upload it somewhere so she can see it. I made it on Windows Movie Maker.
Does any one know of anywhere like a video hosting site that will allow a video with a .MSWMM file format to be uploaded.
i tryed myspace,tiny pic,photobucket,and youtube and none of the sites allows that kind of video format.
pleasee help me.

Ill ask this again, because last time I asked people said wait 6 months and see how it goes, well I did and well everything I hear about vista is well negative, I really want to upgrade though b.c all games that are coming out from microsoft are only for vista geh I know but is it worth upgrading or should I wait another 6 months and just stick with Windows XP MCE?

I get the following message when trying to play a dvd on my laptop.

PowerDVD does not support the current display mode. (DDraw Overlay mode is recommended)

I have the latest Direct X and I tried changing the resolution with no joy.

Any suggestions.

I'm using Windows xp pro.
