does linux run in bootcamp and how do i install it? do i burn it to a cd and then install it?

yes u can, but after the bootcamp wizard is done, reboot the computer,insert the linux install cd, and install the the open partition

I don' think you even need bootcamp, but then again, I don't know Macintosh computers very well.

Linux is a kernel, not an operating system, btw. If you want a Linux based OS, try Ubuntu (http://ubuntu.com). But yeah, burn it to a CD, and then use whatever method Macintosh computers use to boot from a CD.
