I seem to go through blank DVD's like crazy. I waste them when I make a mistake when burning because I was told you can't burn over them once something is already burned onto them, even if it is not burned all the way. It can't be used again once anything is burned on to it. I was wondering if that is true or if there is a program that can erase what is on the DVD? I have "Nero" which I recently switched to from the"Apollo" burning software program. Nero has an erase disk section but it won't let me do it. I switched to Nero because "Apollo" stopped working all together. I got a couple DVD's made but most of the time it wouldn't go to 100% , it would freeze or spit the DVD out unfinished yet data was still burned onto it messing it up. I tried other programs they all did the same thing (wasting more disks!). So I am hoping Nero will work better. I just have no more DVDs left! I am hoping there's a way to reformat the DVD's or erase the data on it and start over?

Buy DVD RW, rewriteable. They're a bit more expensive but if you go through a lot it's probably worth it.

Any burning program can delete the contents of a DVD RW.

if you have a dvd-r or dvd+r there is now way to erase it. but if you have a dvd-rw or dvd+rw then you can use nero to erase all the contents on the dvd. i would recommend buying a dvdrw but the only problem is there is only so many times you can erase and burn something to the dvd and the quality is lower and a lot of dvd players wont play them. when buying dvdr they are nice because they are cheaper and the quality is higher and most dvd players now will play them...hope that helps

If it's DVD-RW, then you can. Then you just go to "DVD Erase" (check the help file) and it'll do it automatically. If it's just DVD-R, then you can't erase. I once had a gliched program that WOULD allow you to, but it messed up a lot and tended to often not burn at all.

Unless they are DVD-RW's you can't erase a DVD-R.

besides DVD-r's are cheap ... dont worry about them. At costco you can get a spool of 100 dvd's for less than $30

you like hardware spoke of as "DVD author" and that i exploit Nero application to burn or replica DVD. it is all the flaws you ought to have on your pc. determine you examine your hardware, is it dvd blend (can merely study dvd and burn cd yet won't be able to used to burn dvd), or it already a dvd author or twin dvd.
