Software - February 2007

I know two guys, each one is very good with the computers but for this one they have different opinions.
One said to me that is very good to defragmenter the computer maybe once every week.
The other one said that is not good...you should do it only once every 6 months.
Now what do you guys think? Which is better ???

I got Windows XP when I bought a laptop. I have now got an old PC and I wondered if I can use the the same disc on the PC or if I have to go and buy another identical disc. I want it all to be legal. It seems stupid to go and buy an identical disc when I have one already, still unopened. Does anyone know?

I downloaded this game from morpheus, but i doesn't work.
When i open it i just see a black window for a couple of secconds.
Everytime i try to delete it, it says "Cannot delete, close any other applycations that may be using this file and try again"
I dont have any open program and it still says that.

I have FL5 and for some reason any percussion channels no longer work. they are highlighted in red. the main three kick snare and hihat, but clap still works, and if i insert something from one of the packs into a slicer channel it also doesn't work. Any ideas why this suddenly happened or how I can fix it????

My PC crashed and I bought a new laptop last week. I transfered my address book and calandar from my palm pilot today. I tried to send an email, and when I clicked on my To: button to select the recipients, I got a prompt that said I dont have access to my address book, but when I check my contacts I can see all of the info. How do I get access to the contacts???

I'm looking to get a new HD for my laptop. I don't plan on saving anything but I do have things to install after I get my old hard drive replaced.

After I put the new HD in how would I go about installing Windows XP?

Once again, I do not plan of transfering any old files. I just want a new HD and start from scratch, and want to know how to properly install my operating system and I'll go from there by reinstalling software.

How can i enter to a menu that display something like that:
1) Get into windows as normal
2) Get into windows in with the last good settings known
... and many opcions more

I used to enter in that menu pushing the 'F8' key with and older computer.
Now i have an Asus mother and i dont know how to do it

i accidentally deleted an important file from my pc.. its the file for my printer and i loss my cd.. i tried looking into my recycle bin but it wasnt there.. is there anywhere i could look for it or is it all gone? like a autobackup or a second recycle bin were files deleted from recycle bin goes? please help.. thanks!

basically, say good-bye to our free Mp3s and pirated movies in all their illegal goodness... according to this website, Microsoft has been working with the music and movie industry to have VISTA put limitations on unlicensed media and so on .... even if you insert a DVD to play in the computer and its not recognized by vista it won't play. Vista only allows you to use peripherals that it deems are safe from piracy, making all but a few of the newest components fully functional
This is going to be phased in in the next couple years....!!
