Then, after I make an ISO file, I can burn it to a dvd , and it should play as a movie right? Or do I have to do something else?

*DVD Flick looks pretty good...

an avi is a single compressed video that a dvd player cannot recognize so you are correct that you need to change the format if you want to play it in a home theater.

a quick note: if you want to play it on another computers dvd player then just burn the avi to a dvd as a piece of data and you should be good to go (as long as the computer has the correct codecs to play the avi).

so if you want to watch it on a normal dvd player, you have to convert the avi into a dvd movie and the easiest way to do that is to use a video editor (like Nero Vision, Adobe Premiere, Pinnacle, etc) and then export that clip as a dvd.

if you don't have a basic editor, just download one of them (i prefer adobe premier elements 3.0) as a trial and use it. you might end up liking it and buying.

*final note: some trial video editors might have a limit to the size of the clip you burn to dvd. rare but just something to note
