Software - January 2007

my unreal anthology install disk won't run at all. i put it in the dvd drive and all that happens is the little light will blink & my pc won't even recognize that there is a dvd in it. i was actually able to get into the first screen twice but as soon as i clicked install it froze up. all my other dvd-roms work just fine does anyone know how i can fix this? i already had the disks exchanged at the store where i bought them, i've updated the drivers for my dvd drive & i reinstalled the dvd drive & i updated direct x does anyone know of a solution?

HOw would I copy a program off of a friensd computer to put on mine. For instance, He has a program that I wont but he dosent have the installation cd. Is it possible I can copy his folder that the software is in and put it on a cd???

Ok, i was thinking of downloading a few songs, and i've had people tell me that limewire is a good site to use. They said you pay $18 for limewire pro. what is the difference between limewrie and pro? so can you pay the $18 and download as many songs as you want? (burn them to cd, etc.) I just need a simple description of limewire and the details. thank-you!

I am getting a new iMac in a few days, however I need to use some programs that are only on windows. However I have had it with pcs lol. Will vista be compatible with a iMac? Also I just purchesed Oblivion, would I still be able to play it on a mac?

I know how to make labels of the entire spreadsheet using mail merge - but cannot select only say 5 records (addresses of folks) to make those into labels - all the addresses come up. I have tried 'hide' but that only hides the records that I selected. I would like to have a database of all my addresses and then pick and chose those names I want to make address labels for.

I have powerpoint installed,but my daughter Doesn't,i'm a bit of a novice and i use mine just for re-sizing photo's to send over the internet.Now my daughter wants to use powerpoint to make a presentation for her work.I have told she can use my computer.But as she doesn't live with us now its a bit of a bind for her as she would like to do it in her own home and on her computer.

There have been a huge amount of changes: added and removed many programs, applications, bookmarks, files, data, etc. What is Sys Restore referring to? It takes about 20 minutes to scan the pc, and then the "no changes made" message appears.

Also, the Dell Support 3.2 programs tells me no restore points are being created, but when I open Sys Restore to create manual points, there are many system created points saved. I don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall XPSP2, but if it is the only way to be safe, I will. What should I do?

I am so greatful to the wizards out there that have been very generous with your knowledge to guide someone such as myself, who really is self taught and struggling.
I read constantly and scour tech forums, etc. for information. The more I learn, the less I know is truer
for pc literacy than anything I have encountered...it is daunting, but I love it. The world of techs has the best
humans in it!

I am using Microsoft Works Word Processor, and I wanted to delete a couple of things listed in View. I went to Help and it told me to go to Words Task Launcher, find the item, right click and delete it. I cannot find it. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the old type of Window Live Messenger, and I dont know how to add people. All it has is a green person and a bell under it. On top it has things that says like files..
How do I add people on my list? I thought you added them on your email address and then it would be sent to the windows live messenger.. but it is not doing that..
