You can uninstall windows messenger, easiest way is to use XP-antispy http://www.xp-antispy.org/ Otherwise you can just have both versions installed at the same time.
Then download windows live messenger http://get.live.com/messenger/overview

when you go to www.msn.com and there will be an ad with windows live messenger.or just look up windows live messenger to download it!

just go to msn.com and type in windows live mesenger and download it , the new one will replace the old one

you need to have windows xp with service pack 2
if you goto http://messenger.msn.com/
this will allow u to download the new messneger.
