Ok I have this computer that has Windows 98 SE. It originally had Windows 98 but the Tech guy who fixed it last time installed the Special Edition. Now I want to reinstall Windos 98 SE because it has too many mistakes, but I just have the cd's and disks for Windos 98 not the Special Edition.

Are they compatible?

Now I am trying to download Windows 98 SE online to see if I can make burn a cd or disk myself but is that going to work?

i did a norton virus scan and no viruses were detected, i erased almost everything thinking that would help but t didnt. when i open any programs it either takes forever or stops responding, it used to be fast what can i do to speed things up,for free of course?

When some softwares are installed and removed,it leaves the date on which it has been installed.So even though I reinstall it a message appears saying the number of days I've been using that software.Do you know where the date is stored?How do I change it(or delete it)?

I have Windows Vista on my laptop and everything seems to work fine, apart from the normal getting used to the new layout etc. However my laptop has an external card reader in which ive inserted a Mini SD card from my Mobile phone to copy some things across. The card reader reads the card without a problem but whenever i try to copy onto my Hard Drive or delete things from the Mini SD card i get the error message -"Error X80...... The Semaphore Timeout Period Has Expired".

I know the card reader is fine because it works with my Normal SD Card from my Sat Nav system, and i know the Mini SD card is fine because it works on my brothers laptop and in my phone. And it worked on my previous OS Windows XP. So whats the problem? Anyone know what this error message means?

I was using my explorer, and I went up to EDIT (I think) on the top toolbar, and made the page full screen. Now I can't get it back to normal and I don't even see the tool bar! The only way I can close IE is to hit CNTRL ALT DEL and close it manually. HELP!

Over the past few days, I have been experiencing a longer time period before the a chatroom window opens. Yahoo, Y!mlite, and Yazak all load fast - and the room menus come up quickly as well .... however, after clicking on any room in the menu ... there is a much longer wait. What once was a mere second or two is now as much as a full minute.

Have run 3 malware/spyware programs (clean) ... scan disk and defrag (ok) ... anti virus updated and scanned (clean) ... cleaned and defraged the registry .... dumped temp files and defraged memory, too ....... BUT still their is a longer delay.


Thoughts - opinions - ideas - solutions - are all appreciated.

My microsoft word used to have those spell checks thingy, where red squiggly lines appear below misapelled words. Now it doesn't do that. I really need it.... >_> Anyone know hoe to get it back?

Well, I tried to look for a spell checker in the Edit, but all I could find was a "Update IME Dictionary..." I clicked it, and it said "The current IME does not support editing the user dictionary." Does this have to do with anything....?Thanks

I do online karaoke. I am trying to use my webcam to do this and everytime I start to use it my internet explorer crashes saying the file that caused the error is quartz.dll. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? I am using a creative webcam NX and have downloaded all drivers including the new ones directly from creative's sight. I have also done all necessary windows updates as well. I am perplexed as what the problem can be?

i made my best friend a video for her birthday using Windows Movie Maker and now im trying to get it onto a CD so that when she puts the CD into her computer, the video just starts playing. all that i can get it to do right now is copy to the CD, so when it goes into a differant computer it just brings up Windows Movie Maker and shows the storyboard of it. please help!!
