Software - January 2007

Its fast downloading music but it is slow downloading movies. Way slower. I have dsl. I don't have any spyware or something like that. plz help. is there any better software or a website where you can download mpg or avi movies. dont say something like bearshare cuz i am not interested on the music only the movies

Instead of reformatting my troubled laptoop, is it possible to use a previously made image of my desktop's C: drive (which includes the Win XP OS for the desktop) and restore it to the laptop and have the Win XP OS in the image actually work as the OS for the laptop (the laptop had Win XP originally)

I have a HP officejet 7410 all in one printer and I need to scan work onto my PC from the printer but can't find the disc I installed on it when I had it - someone said I can go onto the microsoft website and download from there as I haven't got the disc - what do I need to look for etc.. I have been on the downloads page but it all looks too complicated - advice greatly appreciated

I am using Windows XP Professional with SP2. Recently, i found that the entry for new text file from the context menu is missing. When i right clicked on desktop and tried to create a new text file, i could not find the option for creating new text file - which should infact appear there in normal case. This misdeed is sure due to some extenssion problem... may be a corrupt registery or missing entry.

Can anyone help me to restore it back ? Or i simply have to forget creating new text file ???

I recently installed Windows Vista alongside XP I have now formatted the hard drive partition to remove Vista and gotten rid of all the files. However, when booting up the computer it still displays the option to start with Vista and if I don't move quickly enough it attempts to boot Vista. How do I completely remove this option from startup?

Hi Guys..can anyone help me with a question pertaining to rounding numbers in EXCEL.. Lets say I have a number..

8.10 for example. I need a formula that rounds this up or down to the nearest quarter. Eg 8.10 would round down to 8.0 whereas 8.2 would round up to 8.25

I recently purchased what I thought to be a genuine copy of WIndows Vista. However, after installing it I discovered it be a fake with only Chinese language support. I installed it alongside XP, so that when I boot up I have the option of which operating system I wish to use, it is installed on the D: partition of my hard drive and I would now like to remove it without damaging my computer. How may this be achieved. Unfortunately, I was not supplied with the XP CD and would not be able to remove it this way, I have been told that I can just format the D: partition but whenever I attempt this it tells me that certain files are copy protected. Can anyone give me any advice which will allow me to safely remove the program?
