If the files & folders you are backing up do not exceed 700 MB in size, you can use CD-R disks. If you need more capacity, you can use DVD-R disks which can hold about 4.5 GB. The "minus" R disks are preferred as they are more compatible with other drives and players. You do not have to go to the added expense of buying "music cds" as the added expense is paid as a royalty to music providers.

You need to use DVD (+ or - doesn't matter much in your case, but per my opinion + is better). With DVD you can save much more data (6 times more that with CD). Plus DVDs are much more stable and protected from scratching and breaking.

Depends on your computer drive really, But DVD +/- either are fine you'll be able to store upto 4.7GB on them compared to only 700MB on a CD. Use DVD's for data storage, well if you've got a lot of data to store and CD's geneerally for copying Music, digitial images etc.

Check to see whether you have DVD burner installed in your machine - if you've only got a CD burner you'll only be able to burn CD's but with a DVD Burner you'll be able to use both DVD's and CD's.

If I can help further drop me an email. :)

Depends on the size of your hard-drive, but with the price of 'keyring' drives down to £15 for 2 gig, the best bet is just to back up your main (usually 'C') drive onto one of those.
You should have the original CDs for progs u use, so just back up anything you haven't got the originals for onto CD. Best of luck with Microshite - its rubbish at burning!
