Does Ad-Aware SE provide the same protection as Norton? I have both now, but Norton wants me to upgrade and says I will lose protection if I don't renew, but I was thinking if I had Ad-Aware, it would cover viruses. Is this true? Thanks.

Please help, it keeps bringing up these fake warnings, porn popups, and other virus advertisements. It also keeps installing stuff, which makes it difficult to install anything to fix it because it continually sucks up space. How do I get rid of this? Or at least stop these nasty popups?

I have run 7 Norton full scans, 2 in safe mode. Sometimes it find the virus and removes it, sometimes it finds nothing. When I open my Norton history file, it may say that this has been found and requires attention. When I try and remove it, I get an error saying the file can't be removed.

Tried also running SpySweeper, nothing.

I had SpySheriff somehow on my computer, finally got rid of that, but that's when the Bloodhound virus showed up.

System runs incredibly slow, and we get Norton popups saying email has been blocked. We have never used Outlook, all users have web based email.

Also, should we delete all cookies and clear all passwords from the browser options in case someone is getting in?

UGH. Thanks for any help!

How will an external hard drive help protect my files and passwords? Is it possible for the computer to operate with just using an external hard drive? I have recently been getting the "Cain&Abel" when I run my spyware scan, and I found out that it's a password hacking tool. I don't know how I have gotten it (all my AS & AV are up-to-date), but my last resort would be to reformat my computer. If I will do that, I want to make sure that next time around, I will not be infected with the same password hacking tool. I couldn't do back transactions because of this fear that someone out there is just waiting to steal my passwords. Someone has advised me to use an external hard drive. Now, how will that work? I will just plug it in when I will do bank transactions, then unplug it when I'm done? How about the internal hard drive? Won't that also store some data? I am very confused right now, pls. help me. Thanks a lot!

I'm having a problem with my internet connection where every time I download something, I lose the connection to everything else on my computer. So if I'm downloading a song on itunes, Mozilla stops working.

I've run all my virus software several times and it comes up with zilch.

What the heck is happening?

And if you read the logs there can be maybe 50 "attacks" ranging from medium to high risk in 30 minutes.

Now, is each one of these a script-kiddie ( or worse ) sat with a packet sniffer trying their luck, or is it more likely a case of most being originated from other, infected pc's automatically as a result of their infection?

What exactly are they trying to get hold of?
