TrueCrypt is *disk* encryption software. If what you want to encrypt is just a file (containing the database), then what you really need is *file* encryption software.

See the link below for a free implementation of AES - comes with source, too.

Try open source TrueCrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/). For instructions on how to use it, read (http://www.lifehacker.com/software/top/geek-to-live--encrypt-your-data-178005.php)
It features include:

T r u e C r y p t
Free open-source disk encryption software for Windows XP/2000/2003 and Linux
Main Features:

* Creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mounts it as a real disk.

* Encrypts an entire hard disk partition or a storage device such as USB flash drive.

* Encryption is automatic, real-time (on-the-fly) and transparent.

* Provides two levels of plausible deniability, in case an adversary forces you to reveal the password:

1) Hidden volume (steganography – more information may be found here).

2) No TrueCrypt volume can be identified (volumes cannot be distinguished from random data).

* Encryption algorithms: AES-256, Blowfish (448-bit key), CAST5, Serpent, Triple DES, and Twofish.
Mode of operation: LRW (CBC supported as legacy).

You need to be more specific about the requirements.

Do you want to encrypt the database file such as *.mdf or *.ldf

or

Do you want to encrypt any particular column with in the database.

Also which database do you want to encrypt.

Provide more details.
