You can try filehippo at http://www.filehippo.com/software/antivirus/
There is no spyware or adware, just free. Some are free trials while others are free for life. The 3 most popular free antivirus software programs are: Antivir, Avast and AVG. All are good and free for life. All provide real time protection. If you are a computer beginner, AVG is a good choice. It is very straight forward and intuitive to use. Antivir and Avast has some advance features can be a little confusing to use.

Here is an excellent free for life antivirus program from AOL. You don't even have to be a member of AOL. "Active Virus Shield", powered by Kaspersky Labs., Russia. Rated #1 in the world for antivirus detection. Updates every hour on the hour, and has an excellent real time scanner in the background. Uses little or no resources.

Ya, sure! you can get a lot free antivirus, but most of them are either trial versions or old-ones. Norton, PCCillin, Panda, are well known for their effectiveness.
Keep getting free copies from time to time and use them as far as their trial period allows you. Beware! use only one antivirus at a time. Any two antiviruses can take the other as virus; and your system can be held-up.
