I have run 7 Norton full scans, 2 in safe mode. Sometimes it find the virus and removes it, sometimes it finds nothing. When I open my Norton history file, it may say that this has been found and requires attention. When I try and remove it, I get an error saying the file can't be removed.

Tried also running SpySweeper, nothing.

I had SpySheriff somehow on my computer, finally got rid of that, but that's when the Bloodhound virus showed up.

System runs incredibly slow, and we get Norton popups saying email has been blocked. We have never used Outlook, all users have web based email.

Also, should we delete all cookies and clear all passwords from the browser options in case someone is getting in?

UGH. Thanks for any help!

If you have Norton Anti-Virus they added this virus definition on 12-07-2006 so you can do a live update and then scan for viruses again.

It's a Risk Level 1. Threat is Very Low.

The virus could be running in memory.
Have you tried doing a full system scan in safe mode?

It is probably running in background.
Try hitting control alt delete go to running processes

find the one that is spelled exactly

scvhost.exe not svchost.exe

and highlight it and end process.

Then run Nav again and make sure you enable to scan packed or compressed files.

I had a problem with that darn thing last night. I tried to go in safe mode and it wouldn't let me. It just keep telling me there was an error. So I had to completly re-download from the restore discs I got when I bought the computer. I just thank GOD I had those or I would be spending more money. I have also removed Norton from my computer and changed to McAfee for $2.95 a month. I don't know if this will help but I thought I would share my experience.

My Norton anti virus said that i may have a virus everytime it scanned my computer for a year. I just got rid of it. I upgraded to Ad Aware se 1:05. I ran the old program once a week but with the free upgrade it found 89 spyware and malware. I suspect that the malware was what Norton had found but could not remove it. You can find this free program at www.download.com or you can find it at www.komando.com. The reason that Norton cannot remove spyware and malware is because it most likely is not included in your version of Norton Anti Virus.

In safe mode, press Alt+Ctrl+Del and see if anything suspicious comes up on your process list. Then, trace it back to it's original file via windows search engine. Remove the process as well as the file, and any additional fragments of the data from the control panel. Restart your computer in safe mode again and run norton. It should be gone. Good luck :)

Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html

Okay Go To Google And Search SmitFraud Fix. Download it and save the folder to your desktop. Then reboot in Safe Mode (Go to Start then Run. Then type in msconfig select the tab BOOT.INI then check the box beside /SAFEBOOT.) Then restart. Then double click on the icon in the folder that runs under CMD (Command Prompt) and if I remember correctly you type in 3 and hit enter. If not type in the number beside the selection titled (Safe Mode Preferred) Then when it asks to check/scan the registry select yes and hit enter. Then go to run and type in msconfig then go to BOOT.INI and uncheck the /SAFEBOOT. Then restart . It should now work. Good luck it is a stubborn virus

Sounds like you got infected with a hidden SMTP server

Run all these and save a log of what it finds.
