My computer has been acting very strangely in the past week. Whenever I'm on my computer for more than 20-30 minutes, my background freezes and all the icons disappear. When I exit a program, the image of the program gets frozen on the background... Any help?

We made a restart in safe mode before for how many times. Then after restarting in safe mode and clicking the administrator's name, we restarted in normal mode. Since then when we open the internet, there is like a grinding sound from the box of the pc. What is it or what is the cause? Could it be because of restarting the PC in safe for how many times? If so, how can we fix it?
(We are only using now the PC of our boss. She gave us permission to post this question so we can read and make changes of our PC as well if anyone here could give a good solution. We thank you all in advance).

can't access exclamation point, plus sign, dollar sign, etc. all i get is numbers... this is essential for me since one of the numbers in caps is part of my password. this happened after power was interrupted while comp. was running. can anyone help

I want to know what you have to put in to run Control Panel, from a school computer. Also if they have blocked it can it be run.

Also I know that you can change your password with cmd. However, can you change your network password from a computer, if it has Novell for windows.

lol I have a lot of free time on school computers, anything else that I can do, that you can tell me how to do. i mean that is not obvious.

The computers are WinXP, and they use Novell Client for Windows, idk the numbers....

I need some recommendations on books I can read that will teach me more about computers. I know the very basics when it comes to computers, but I would like to become more educated with computer terms and such. I dont want anything that is completely over the top, I am a stay at home mom that believes my knowledge is lacking and would just like to improve it. Any suggestions?

Is there an application or process that will provide a readable list of what's occurring during startup? I'm aware of apps like HijackYhis, but they only show what's in the startup stream. I want to see a list created during startup that logs what's happening as it happens with timestamps... like in a step-thru code debug.

Hello! Today my recovery disk arrived after 8 long weeks with HP. Before I got the recovery disk, a balloon pops up saying you have files waiting to be written on this disk, even though there is no disk in the drive. Now when i put the recovery disk in the drive, it says do you want to write the files on the disk, so i click take no action, and it closes but then the steps im supposed to follow on the recovery disk doesnt come up! Please help!

I'm thinkin' of getting a MacBook for college, but will I have trouble with it? Can I download all the same files as my peers? Use the same programs that would be needed for projects? Anyone had problems? Also, I've been a Windows user my whole life, should I switch, would it be hard?

I am currently connected, and I plugged in my LAN line and it says connected but when I get on IE7 either it says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." or "The address is not valid." I know I said it but it's says IT"S CONNECTED! BUT I CAN'T GET ON! I TRYED SYSTEM RESTORE! I TRYED SUPPORT! I have a project due this monday and I gotta do it today since I know I'm gonna be real busy after thanksgivings. Please give me an answer. I check up and post additional details.

I asked this question under another topic but I don't think it was under the right one...
If you're in an adult chat room on yahoo... do you think its ok to state in the room that you are naked and wet with a naked baby?Even if its supposed to be a long standing joke between a person and the people that chat regularly in the room. This being said while the person is on cam (which is for friends only aka people they chat with on a regular basis)and not knowing all the people in the room? This being done on a daily basis

AND i did not say they were showing a naked baby
I said they were announcing in a public ADULT chat room that they were naked and wet and had a naked baby or were chasing a baby etc....
Keep in mind there are alot of people in the room that this person doesn't know as well

I had an e-mail address that was phished and of course is now sending out spam. Now, I have this related to my IP Address which won't allow me to e-mail hotmail and half of my contact list. Not to mention people who are contacting me regarding the horses I have for sale on line. Is there a way to contact yahoo and speak with someone directly? Or do I just have to live with it?

Whenever i try to play one of my CD rom games, they skip. And i can't play them. Why are they skipping my computer isnt that old. Is it memory shortage or what???
