I'm thinkin' of getting a MacBook for college, but will I have trouble with it? Can I download all the same files as my peers? Use the same programs that would be needed for projects? Anyone had problems? Also, I've been a Windows user my whole life, should I switch, would it be hard?

I'd consult the school directly, but I'm not sure where I'm going, and I'm planning on transferring too. Thanks.

Apple computers in general and MACs in particular are suitable ONLY for the academic world. They are in all essence useless in the real world. There is not real business software nor use for the MAC.
Stay with computers and go to the arcade to play games.

Modern Macs use Intel chipsets and can dual boot Windows. The safest thing to do is to make sure you get one with a big hard drive and install Windows on one partition and Mac OS on another. It's very easy. Chances are good that you will have some programs that won't run under Mac OS, but if you dual boot Windows then it should be fine. You can also buy a program called Parallels that allows you to run Windows from within Mac OS, if you don't want to dual boot.

Most people find it easy to move from Windows to Mac OS. You might want to go to an Apple store and talk to them and see if you can play with one for a while to get a feel for it.

Hi, since u r not sure then don't get a Mac. Most colleges still just offer Windows software. OS X isn't hard at all though. Maybe once u r sure to which college u go to then just consult them, but still most colleges require Windows. You could always install Windows on a Mac. I hope I helped.
Good Luck!

I switched from windows to a mac and I love the mac. It did take a little getting used to but it was not diffiucult. Most of the programs you would use at college are also on the mac, such as microsoft office.

Also, you can now installl windows on your mac as a second operating system. It is easy to do.

Since the major apps are available for Macs (Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, etc) and since all the Macs have Intel chips and you can run Windows (aargh) get a Mac. Lot less hassle than a Windows PC.

It would probably be fine. I think many schools understand that some use a mac. Mine did.
