Don,t ever post any picture you wouldn't want everyone you know to see it, including your family. Makes sure there are NO local landmarks in the background (school name etc).
You got the NO personal info part correct

Sadly there are men and women out there who pry on kids, even on the Internet.
You ask if posting your picture on the internet is dangerous ... my answer is YES, it can be.
If there's someone out there who's desperate enough to find out where abouts you are, it is most likely possible.
Apart from that, your picture can be copied and posted on an adult content site without you knowing it and therefore petophiles and/or simply normal people can use your picture as visual aid for arousal.
We can only imagine what sick perverted people can do. And it would be at your own risk to post them up.
Some sites have now made it a policy to keep their websites safe to use, but it's very restricted.
Whilst not giving out any personal information is smart, the thing you have to think about it whether you want your image to be used as someone's visual aid for an indecent action.
With photoshop and many other editing programs, as I said, you can only imagine what they could do.
Be careful and wise.
Cheers

It can be dangerous. Some SICKOS prowl the internet looking for young girls with pictures up. They then read your myspace information or online journals and try to find out as much as they can. They may even pretend they are a teenage boy and start up a relationship with you. And once you take the bait they may ask to meet, and when you do meet, it's a 40 year old pedophile murderer.
SO BEWARE!
People can be anyone they choose when they are on the internet!
A psycho may see your picture and become drawn to you and think you are amazing and try to find you. They may try to get close to you by lying and pretending they are someone else.
Girl have fallen in love with people they think are young teenage guys and they meet them and end up finding out they are old perverted men or worse, they end up being kidnapped, raped, or murdered.
BE CAREFUL!
Never type private information or tell the city you are from. Never write personal details or name the school you go to. Perverts will find your school and stalk you.
It does happen and it happens often.
Protect yourself! Is putting your picture up worth the chance that something could happen?
If you do put your picture up. WRITE NO INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR LIFE OR WHERE YOU ARE FROM! Do NOT name your school, library, state, city, street, address (duh!) and do not write anything that can give anyone an idea of where you come from.
Do not put risky pictures on the internet! Don't put any of yourself in underwear or a bra and do not put sexual pictures up! That is a great way to attract scumbags and perverted pedophiles!
PROTECT YOURSELF! You are prey and they are the hunters!
No matter where you go, watch your back. I'm not saying you need to be afraid all the time because that would be stupid. But you need to be aware and keep in mind that men (mostly) do horrible things to teenage girls and you need to protect yourself.
Don't go anywhere alone. Lock your car doors when you drive. Don't walk outside at night alone! Always let family or CLOSE friends know where you will be and phone home often to check in.
There are alot of sickos in this world, and I don't want to see or hear about another young girl or woman going missing! Some of these cases can be prevented. Make sure you are aware of your surroundings at all times. And don't ever be afraid to call police for help if you think someone is following you or going to hurt you. The most that can happen is that you will be embarassed for making a mistake but it's better than the person killing or torturing you!
LEARN ABOUT THE PEDOPHILES IN YOUR AREA. I am including a WEBSITE in my sources area. You can look on that website to find out if sex offenders live near you and what the address they live at is.
This website only shows where American sex offenders are so it is useless for non-Americans.
It tells you the basic nature of their sex crime and where they live. Chances are you will have many living within 20 miles of you. Internet is dangerous but so is real life! Protect yourself okay!
And this applies to ALL TEENAGE GIRLS AND WOMEN. There are too many bad people taking advantage of women in this world so be safe and protect your life!
Use your common sense and your intelligence and always protect yourself and your life.
GO TO THE GREAT WEBSITES BELOW AND FIND OUT WHERE THE SEX OFFENDER PIGS LIVE SO YOU CAN PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN AND FAMILY!!!!

It's possible.
You'd be surprised how easy it is to make a jump with what seems to be very little personal information.
I live in Virginia. A friend of mine lives in Long Island. She was playing a computer game with a guy who told her that he was a cop and who gave him his MySpace page. The MySpace page had a photo and his first name and last initial as well as his town. His town happened to be my town. She IMed me his page. As it happened, I had a business card for a cop who'd come out to take a report for a vandalism problem I had. I compared the name on the card to his MySpace page, did a quick Google of his full name from my business card, and was able to confirm that it was the same person.
Was this dangerous? Not in THIS case, but I guarantee that this guy would never have guessed that someone in his home town would be able to pull his full name and address and know *exactly* where he works and what he's doing in his spare time in less than 5 minutes of sharing his MySpace page with someone way up in New York. It was pretty random, but not as much of a stretch as you might imagine. Don't *ever* assume you're anonymous when you post things to the Internet. And be aware that once your data goes up, it's up *forever*. There's *no such thing* as deleting things off the Internet.

only if there is incriminating evidence in the picture. If you're standing outside a well known monument or someplace with distinguishable features, people could actually find out where you live, or at least the city. from there, creeps just scope the area, looking for you.
i guess pictures like yearbook photos are ok, as long as theres no info on the school. just be carefull with anything you post up, theres no telling who can see you. Females should be especially aware, cept for the fugos. they always seem to be left alone... no offense to ugly women.

Well personally i dont like to post my photos on the internet because of two major resons among others.
Your friends/foes are bound to find your photos if they search hard enough or even stumble across them accidentally.
One of my resons is beause your enemies can find your photos edit them and post them back on the internet (they can make you look ugly or stupid.) This can be very embarrasing for you.
Another if you have evil enemies they can perform evil rituals with your photos, and believe me whatever they do actually work.
I'm not trying to scare you in any way. But posting your photos on the net is not the very best thing to do. Maybe you should try to change the accessability to your photo, whereby only your good friends can see them.

Well, it can be dangerous if u put just more than a pix on the Internet. If u just put a random pix on the Internet people are just going to look @ it and move on..And it can be dangerous because there could be a bad person trying to found someone and found a pix of someone and search for them.So to some ascent it can be dangerous and cannot be dangerous

If you do put something up make sure it looks good and you dont mind people seeing it, i found a site once where someone had taken photos on the internet and edited them, drawing stuff on the faces or something to make them look stupid. Shame i cant remember the name it was so long ago...

I don't know your age, so here goes....Yes....any female under the age of 21...should NOT post her picture or HIS on the net...tooo many wierdos....and I'm serious about this...there is a local TV station doing a series show on this and it shows girls and guys doing it and getting response from older guys. Now if you go to myspace or myyearbook.com...you can set your site to private and keep out the odd balls.

It can be dangerous for adults too, If anyone uploads more memes (like the same meme over and over again) it gets even more worser.
