I need some recommendations on books I can read that will teach me more about computers. I know the very basics when it comes to computers, but I would like to become more educated with computer terms and such. I dont want anything that is completely over the top, I am a stay at home mom that believes my knowledge is lacking and would just like to improve it. Any suggestions?

Absolute Beginner's Guide to Computer Basics (4th Edition)
Not sure how basic your looking for, but this is very helpful and if you buy it, it costs from $12-15 usually

I know how you feel, and it's overwhelming (or at least whelming). I'd say, start with at least one, small, thing, to get confident, and easy-going.

For instance, this won't get you into "technology in general" but it'll make you danged good at Word, and it's easy to use, and it'll take you about two weeks: Word Personal Trainer (from OReilly). It has a CD (which is purdy much a visual copy of the book) that drags a "simulated" mouse pointer across the screen, then waits till you drag yours there and click, and so it teaches you all the tricks of Word.

OReilly has Personal Trainer books on other stuff, too.

The main things about learning computers? (1) Don't be afraid to go in there and "play", as experimenting is the main way to learn, and (2) You can learn a truly surprising amount by typing a question IN PLAIN ENGLISH on a Google search bar and pressing Enter.

Good luck!

I have to agree with the posters above. Don't be afraid to play around a bit. Make sure you make a restore point before playing. Google is really good. Just type in a subject and go to the sites to learn.
