Hi there,

If you're wanting to record your voice you'll need 1. Microphone - preferably not the one that came with your PC. 2. Recording and Editing software.

.: Recording Using Your Personal Computer

To successfully record your voice and upload a sample to Voices.com, you would need a microphone hooked up to your computer and recording software such as Audacity.

1. Download Audacity for free here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

2. Install Audacity by double-clicking the installation .exe file.

3. Plug a microphone into your computer.

4. In Audacity, click the 'record' button to start recording.

5. Save or Export the file to your computer's desktop. Save as 'YourName-Demo.wav'

6. Convert the .wav file into an .mp3 file for better deliver over the Internet. MP3's are equal in quality but download 10 times as fast. MP3's are also the Internet standard audio file format.

*** If you have questions about Audacity, please refer to their Help section and Frequently Asked Questions found here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq

OK. In Windows, go to Start> All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder. you will need to have a microphone plugged in to your computer. This will record you. Alternatively, download Audacity, a free program which will give you a more sphisticated mixer. Hope this helps.

Windows xp's built in recorder has a very short time limit; a very nice FREEWARE recorder that has oodles of features is "AUDACITY", & has unlimited (hard drive space limit) record time. Go to "Snapfiles.com/freeware" for dwnload.
For voice, get yourself a moderate to good quality microphone,
try 'newegg.com' for really nice prices & service.
Not sure about instrument digital recording.
