Okay here's the deal
Windows XP was shutting down when i pushed the restart button.. When the windows restarted it displayed an error about missing user files (three times on the welcome screen) and then the desktop was all refreshed (like when u install a new windows)... all the MyDocs files, Desktop files and settings disappeare.. the Docs And Settings folder was replaced by a new one..

HELP ME OUT.. I REALLY WANT MY OLD DATA BACK!!!!
ITS 10000% ESSENTIAL!!!!!!!


PS: the sys recovery gives a 15-day back date but i need to recover to a time 30 minutes back!!!!!!!!

my pc wont respond for between 5-30 secs after ive clicked and pages are really slow to load its not just the internet its the same offline too it doesnt even close programs straight away and often freezes or doesnt respond at all pls can anyone help me ive got avast antivirus installed and i think the prob has been happening since then these are the things ive tried so far

ad aware scan
virus scan
defrag
system optimize
run-%temp% and deleted all files there
run-regedit and deleted all browser helper objects
deleted all winsock files
deleted any unnessescary files/programs

i'm at my wits end pls help me XXX
also ive tried to install avg and norton but it keeps saying they are out of date and something about an internal database

It seems odd that after several years of rapidly increasing display resolution being standard that we should stay for so long with one, especially since much higher resolutions are available, even on LCDs.

is there any way you can change your optical drive(dvd-rw,dvd-cd-rw) icons in my computer
i was previously told that you could right click them and customize but i know thats not possible,and neither is the option of using anything in display properties>desktop
at the moment both my drives appear as cd-drive were they should be dvd-rw and dvd/cd-rw respectivly
apart from a system restore which i have tried is there any other ways of fixing this

my roommate is accessing net frm my pc alwayas in my absence and also when i am present. is there any soft to block net as i wish, i am allowing him to access my pc but not net
i can let him access my pc but not net,
he is one of my relative ,so
i want to block him to access net by any means,i have already followed the net disable,proxy options etc ,finally i want a software to block him handled by me,or if any other trick anyone have plz provide me i dont want to block him to access my pc,but want to block him to access net,i cant tell him directly.he is now sleeping ,so i am asking ,plz help me

I have a friend who father is elderly but still likes to use his computer. His hands don't work anymore so all he can do is read stuff. I know there is software or something out there that he could speak into his mic. and command his comouter to do functions and type his speech into text. Just don't know what it is or to call it? Any Suggestions for this present for the man?

my boyfreind has a good job in computers, hes brainy as well, anyway what i am concerned about is if my computer breaks down do you think he will be albe to get into my hotmail account and know every site i have been too. Okay, I'm no computer technician, but I think somethings wrong with my computer. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that when I dropped the mouse, the mouse still worked, but it may have tangled or did something else with the wires so it didn't work. Now all the colors are mixed up, the whites are purple, the greens maroon, some of the other greens blues. Please help, tell me what's wrong with my computer what's wrong with it and how to fix it. Thankyou so much in advance! The computer still functions though so I guess i'm lucky.
