this is going to sound obvious but it can really make a difference, Delete all the old programmes you used to use but dont now. Also, anything you can back up to cd (photos, old music you dont listen to etc) put onto a couple of cds then you can delete it from your comp. if they are important pics, make a few coppies as cds get damaged but computers sometimes crash and need wiped...

also, de-fragment your computer, that can increase the memory

A few suggestions. Clear out your hard drive with any programme you don't use, run a spy-ware programme regularly and do a clean disk from your utilities in 'System Tools' and lastly do a defrag from the same menu. That's all you can do really.

Go to your control panel and remove programs they can realllly slow your computer down. You shoul remove things that you don't use alot or not at all. There is also a program on there where you can clean up your hardrive and compress things to have better profermance. I hope this helps!!

Remove any old programmes you don't use, delete any shortcuts you don't need, do a cleanup and a defragmentation and get rid of any startup programmes you don't need.

Try not to ask too much from an old machine.

If you really need to spring clean, save all your files and do a reinstall of windows.
