If you are getting a 16Mbps connection then you will get around 2000KB/s give our take. That's just about 2MB/s and since 1GB is 1024MB it would be about 512 seconds or just under 10 minutes.

[edit] as noted above, finding a site that will sustain that will be difficult, and you almost never see such a speed unless you are downloading direct from you ISP's servers and no one else in your area is if it's cable.

The 256 is kilobits (kb) and bittorrent purchasers and browsers teach speeds in kilobytes (kB) 8kb = 1kB so 256kbps = 32kBps this is the utmost velocity you may get on that plan. All ISPs promote in bits because it seems 8 instances extra advantageous than saying it in bytes (256 rather of 32 and the majority don't be attentive to the version between bits and bytes. Your best element on your velocity is the cost of your internet plan.

finding a site capable of giving you a consistant 16mb downstream is going to be the issue but if you find it you will be looking at much less that half hour. when you get to those speeds time is pretty irrelevant to be honest.
